On November 5, 2018, ASUU started an uncertain strike activity over the disappointment of the Federal Government to execute three zones in the Memorandum of Action it marked with the association on September 14, 2017.

On Thursday, a National Commissioner for INEC and Chairman of its Information and other Education Committee, Festus Okoye, communicated worries about the impact of the ASUU strike on the 2019 decisions amid the opening of a one-day class on media sexual orientation touchy detailing.
The commission said that it would send more than one million specially appointed staff made up of speakers in government tertiary organizations, individuals from the National Youth Service Corps and understudies of administrative tertiary foundations in the races.

The classes of specially appointed staff to be utilized amid one year from now’s races would fill in as Returning Officers, Collation Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers, and Assistant Presiding Officers. However, Okoye communicated expect that the races could be affected adversely if the strike was not desperately canceled.

Subsequently, the waiting strike by ASUU will no uncertainty have genuine effect on the arrangements for the direct of the 2019 decisions. We in this way approach ASUU and the Federal Government of Nigeria to rapidly and truly resolve the waiting impasse that has prompted vulnerability in the instruction area.

The national intrigue, the enthusiasm of our vote based system and the notoriety of Nigeria request the quick goals of the issues that prompted the strike and we so encourage.

It is vital that understudies in government tertiary foundations ought to and must be in school something like multi month before the February 16 Presidential and National Assembly races.
